Shameeka Fishley completed the No. 7 Davenport women's soccer team's 5-0 win over Grace Bible in the Panthers 2014 home debut Saturday afternoon.
DU, which improves to 4-0 on the year, will welcome Goshen (Ind.) to the Turf Field Wednesday under the lights at 7 p.m.
The Panthers were in control for a majority of the match, even outshooting the Tigers 30-1. The eventual winning goal arrived in the 11
th minute. A corner kick by
Lindsay Furness found McHale near the right post for the put away. Five minutes later Grzybowski sent a corner kick that eventually found its way into the back of the net.
Davenport added two more goals in 40 seconds midway through the second half. In the 65
th minute, Grzybowski's shot inside the goal box was blocked by the Tigers (0-2) defense but Skidmore tapped the loose ball near the goal line into the net. Skidmore would return the favor with a cross to Grzybowski in the left side, where the senior knocked it in near the post.
Fishley would finished off the scoring with a penalty kick in the 67
th minute.
Tara Gessler got the starting nod for the first time in her DU career, having not need to make a save thanks to a solid defensive line led by
Kilee Lovelace and
Bailey Rhoda, who saw every minute on the pitch.
