Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – In the first game of the weekend series against Bowling Green, the Davenport D2 hockey was able to beat the Falcons 9-4.
Donald Sund led the Panthers with three goals and one assist as DU is now 15-1-1 on the season. Davenport and Bowling Green will play the second game of their weekend series on Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ohio.
After Bowling Green struck for the first goal of the game 2:51 into the game, but the Panthers came firing with two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead on goals from
Daniel Swink and
Kyle McConnell. The back-and-forth battle continued with the Falcons tying the game at two goals apiece after the first period.
The Falcons started the second period the same way as the first with a goal in the first three minutes of the period to regain a one goal lead. Like the first period, Davenport scored two back-to-back goals to take their second lead of the game from
Zachary Bodziak and
Cam Bathum. The Panthers started to pull away as
Donald Sund but two more goals on the board for the Panthers as they took a 6-3 lead into the second intermission.
Sund started the third period with a goal to cap off his hat trick just 26 second into the period off a from
Jake Otto. Bowling Green was able to score one more time, but Davenport rattled off the final two goals to beat the Falcons 9-4, while
Tyler Kuehl picked up the win in goal.
Davenport will close out their seven game road stretch on Saturday night a 9:30 p.m. against Bowling Green in Bowling Green, Ohio.
