Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Davenport men's Division II hockey team has started 0-2 on their trip to Bluegrass Country as they lost 6-3 to Louisville on Friday and 4-2 to Penn State on Saturday. The Panthers gave up three goals in the second period against the Cardinals which turned the tide. UL scored twice on the power play and turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead after two periods. The Cardinals scored one more power play goal late in the third to seal the win.
Donald Sund scored unassisted in the first and again in the second with assists from
Trevor Murray and
Jessee Game. Zac Bodziak also scored in the third for the Panthers with
Austin Flores credited with an assist. Louisville also scored a short-handed goal showing that special teams played the biggest role in the contest.
The Nittany Lions scored first on Saturday and then saw the Panthers take the lead with back-to-back goals.
Tyler Thomas scored to tie the game with assists from
Kyle McConnell and
Blake Damerow late in the first. Alex Stewart then in the second gave DU the lead from McConnell and Damerow. PSU tied the contest in the second just 22 seconds after DU took the lead. The Nittany Lions then used a short-handed goal as the game-winner late in the second and a power play goal less than a minute later for the insurance goal.
