Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The second-ranked Davenport men's soccer team got all it could handle from a spirited Aquinas squad on Wednesday night. The final result was a 1-1 tie earning DU one point in the WHAC standings but dropping them out of first place. The Panthers are now 10-1-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the conference while the Saints are 7-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the league. Fifth-ranked Northwestern Ohio has now taken over first place with a 6-0 WHAC record.

The Davenport offense was limited to just two shots on goal but did not 13 total shots. Aquinas had five shots on goal out of six total shots. The Saints led 1-0 in the 28th minute as Jacob Bedi rocketed a shot that was saved by Aaron Orban. The rebound however found Matt Lazzar who scored his first of the season.

The Panthers did have a great deal of possession in the second half and it finally paid off in the 77th minute as T.J. Ifaturoti played a ball from right to left to Jordan Van Oostenbrugge. He took a left-footed swing and put the ball in the top left corner from around 25 yards.

The match went into double overtime and in the second extra session the Saints had a chance to end it but missed an open net to the left with about five minutes left. The Panthers will look to get back in the win column on Friday night as they travel to Siena Heights for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
