Box Score SYLVANIA, Ohio - The second-ranked Davenport University men's soccer team won for the ninth straight time on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-1 win at Lourdes University. The Panthers improved to 9-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference while the Grey Wolves are now 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the league. Cam Cavanagh scored his second of the year with an assist from T.J. Ifaturoti off a corner kick. Less than two minutes later,
Jake Love scored his fifth of the campaign as he carried up the left side and fired from about 20 yards out for a 2-0 lead just before halftime.
Freshman
Adam Farrell scored his first collegiate goal in the 61st minute as
Joan Nievas delivered a ball and Farrell beat goalkeeper Jose Cedillo one-on-one for a 3-0 lead. Freshman
Alex Mendez gave Davenport a 4-0 lead in the 68th minute on a direct free kick which he has perfected in recent matches. Mendez's fourth goal of the season went over a wall from about 32 yards out and DU was in the driver's seat. The Grey Wolves snapped a scoreless streak for Davenport as they converted on a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
Kyler Jacobs made two saves during the contest while DU recorded 13 shots on goal.
