Busy Week for Men’s Tennis Starts with Grand Rapids City Double

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After starting their spring schedule last week against Grand Valley State, the Davenport men's tennis team will be in action on Friday and Saturday this week as they travel to Holland, Mich., for the Grand Rapids City Double hosted by Hope, before they travel to Midland, Mich., to face Northwood on Saturday. The Grand Rapids City Double starts at 3 p.m. on Friday and the match against Northwood will start at 2 p.m.

Davenport started their spring season last week as they hosted NCAA DII foe, Grand Valley State, at MVP Sportsplex last week. The Panthers lost the Lakers 7-2 as they picked up one in double from the duo of Matheus Carvalho and Sam Rogerson, while Matthew Boyle grabbed the only win in singles for the Panthers.

Davenport will face their second straight NCAA DII program from the GLIAC, as they face Northwood. The Panthers are 7-9 all-time against NCAA DII opponents, and last season when Davenport and Northwood faced off, the Timberwolves edged the Panthers 6-3 at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.

The Panthers will start off their weekend at the Grand Rapids City Double in Holland, Mich., at 3 p.m. on Friday, before they travel to Midland, Mich., on Saturday to face Northwood at 2 p.m.
