Joliet, Ill. – After returning from Florida, the Davenport tennis team's traveled to Illinois to start their weekend road trip. The men's team dropped matches to Saint Francis (Ill.) and Olivet Nazarene, 7-2 and 6-3, while the women's team lost their only match of the day to Olivet Nazarene, 7-2. Both teams will be back in action on Saturday morning as they face Calumet College of St. Joseph at 11:30 a.m.

In the first match of the day for the men's tennis team, Davenport took on Saint Francis (Ill.). The Panthers fell behind early as they dropped all three doubles matches. In singles, Davenport tried to make a comeback, but
Sam Rogerson and
Christian Woods were the only two to grab wins in singles as the Panthers dropped the match 7-2.

In the second match of the day against No. 24 Olivet Nazarene, Davenport got off to another slow start as they dropped two of the three doubles matches as the pair of
Steven Vink and Juan-Philip van Anterwerpen were the only team to grab a doubles win. In singles, the Panthers lost the first four matches, as
Kevin Slagh and
Haja Denise were the only players to grab wins in the final two singles matches, as the Panthers lost to the Tigers, 6-3.

In the only match of the day for the women's team, they took on Olivet Nazarene who is receiving vote in this week's NAIA polls. The Lady Panthers got off to a slow start as they lost the first two doubles matches, while the
Bridget Barrett and
Montserrat Elizondo picked up the lone doubles win for Davenport at number three doubles. Davenport was unable to pick up momentum from the late doubles win as the Panthers lost the first five singles matches, and Barrett closed out the day with her second win of the evening, but Davenport lost 7-2.

The Panthers will wrap up their weekend road trip on Saturday as they face Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind., at 11:30 a.m.
