GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's tennis team returned to action for the first time in eight days as they host Spring Arbor (Mich.) at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex on Thursday evening. Davenport was able to beat Spring Arbor, 8-1, to move to 9-11 on the season. The Panthers will be back in action on Friday as they host another Crossroads League foe, Huntington (Ind.).
After dropping the first double match, the Panthers were able to bounce against the Cougars to win the next two doubles matches.
Haja Denise and
Steven Vink were able to win at double No. 2, 8-3, while
Juan-Philip van Antwerpen and
Kevin Slagh were able win the third doubles match, 8-1.
In the singles, Davenport was able to pull away from Spring Arbor as they pushed their 2-1 lead after doubles, to an 8-1 victory as the Panthers took all six singles matches. Davenport moves to 8-9 on the season against non-conference opponents.
The Panthers will conclude their non-conference slate as they host Huntington (Ind.) on Friday at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex at 5:30 p.m.
