GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Both the men and women's tennis teams were back in action on Friday evening as the women's team hosted NCAA DII foe, Hillsdale, while the men were action for the second straight day as they faced Huntington at home. The women came from behind to beat Hillsdale, 5-4, while the men were able to take down Huntington, 8-1. Both tennis teams will conclude their regular season schedules on Wednesday as they host WHAC foe Indiana Tech on senior day.
In the women's match, Davenport fell behind early as they dropped the first two doubles matches by the score of, 8-4, but the duo of
Bridget Barrett and
Montserrat Elizondo were able to cap off doubles with an 8-4 win two pull DU within one. In singles, the Panthers were able to come from behind to beat the Chargers as they won four of the six matches to take a 5-4 win over Hillsdale.
The Davenport men's team won third straight match by the score of 8-1 after they beat Huntington by that score on Friday night. Davenport got off to strong start as they won all three double matches to take the early 3-0 lead. Huntington was able to take singles No. 1 in three sets, but the Panthers were able to rebound winning the final five singles matches, all in straight sets.
The Panthers will close out their regular season next Wednesday as both the men and women host Indiana Tech at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex for senior day.
