GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's tennis team took on Northwestern Ohio in the WHAC Championship looking to win their first conference title and earn automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships. Davenport was unable to grab a point against the Racers, as Northwestern Ohio went on to win the match, 5-0. The Panthers conclude their 2014-15 campaign with a 13-12 record.
In the doubles matches, Northwestern Ohio took control of the match in the early going as the Racers took all three matches to take an early 3-0 lead. Matheus Carvalho and
Sam Rogerson lost at doubles No. 1, 8-4, while
Haja Denise and
Steven Vink dropped their match at doubles No. 2, 8-1.
Juan-Philip van Antwerpen and
Kevin Slagh were unable to comeback at doubles No. 3, where they lost, 8-5.
With the Racers only needing two points heading into singles play, they grabbed a pair of straight wins at singles No. 1 and No. 3 to complete the sweep of the Panthers.
Davenport conclude their season with a 13-12 record on the year after dropping the match, 5-0, against the Northwestern Ohio.
