Wandell Wins Medalist Honors at Arnie's Invitational

DU finished third out of 16 teams

ADA, Mich. - The men's golf team finished third out of 16 teams at Arnie's Invitational hosted at Egypt Valley Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Panthers shot 301 and were in second place after Monday's round. DU shot 313 on Tuesday and slipped into third place by one stroke (Holy Cross). The two-round total of 614 was 10 strokes behind first place Taylor University.

Mitchell Wandell won medalist honors for the third time this fall and the first time for a 36-hole tournament. Earlier this season he was medalist at the first and second WHAC Jamboree. Wandell shot two-under par 70 in the opening round and was one stroke behind Mitch Lamping of Taylor. Lamping struggled to an 82 on Tuesday while Wandell shot 75 to finish 36 holes at one-over par 145. He was two strokes better than Kaleb Gorbahn of Holy Cross.

Jorge Benitez finished in the top 10 carding a 154 (+10) which tied for ninth. He shot 73-81 for two rounds. Kurt Sprague shot 158 and tied for 26th. Michael Cooper tied for 35th and tied for 35th. Mitchell Garrison carded a 161 and his 78 was the team's second best score on Tuesday.
