WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — The Davenport men's golf team opened its spring season in strong fashion, capturing the team title at the Saddlebrook Spring Invite with a three-round score of 887 at Saddlebrook Resort. The Panthers led the field of six teams after posting rounds of 299, 289 and 299 to finish 18 strokes ahead of second-place Saginaw Valley State, showcasing depth and consistency throughout the lineup.
Davenport was led by Cayden Kwan, who earned medalist honors with a three-round total of 217 (+4). Kwan opened with a 72 in the first round, followed by an even-par 71 in round two before closing with a 74 to secure the individual title. The Panthers also placed two golfers in a tie for second, as Justin Grimard and Chen-Shiuan Wu each finished at 222 (+9). Wu highlighted the tournament with a second-round 68 (-3), the lowest round recorded by any Davenport golfer during the event.
The Panthers' strong team finish was rounded out by Hudson Turcotte, who placed eighth with a 228 (+15), and Pedro Russi, who finished 13th at 234 (+21). Their consistent scoring helped Davenport maintain control of the leaderboard across all three rounds and secure the tournament victory. With multiple top finishes and the individual champion, Davenport's performance set a strong tone for the remainder of the spring season.
