Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Panthers finished their weekend series with Bowling Green State University Saturday night. DU started off hot as they totaled five goals in the first period to send Davenport to its fifth straight win and advanced its record to 14-7, 4-0 on the season.
Davenport opened up the first period with a slap shot from the blue by
Alexander Stewart with the assist coming from
Blake Damerow and
Zachary Bodziak at 5:18 to give DU the early 1-0 edge. The Panthers then quickly made the score 2-0 as
Brad Lawson beat the Bowling Green goalie on an assist by
Trevor Murray at 5:56. Davenport continued to dominate by scoring three more first period goals as Bodziak,
Daniel Swink, and
Tyler Thomas each recorded a goal to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, Davenport kept up the intensity scoring three more goals. Bodziak scored his second of the game at 3:04 and gave the Panthers a 6-0 lead.
Branden Burton would tally a goal at 8:41and
Kyle McConnell gave the Panthers an eight-goal lead just 12 seconds later. The three goals put the Panthers ahead 8-0 at the conclusion of the second period.
Within the first minute of the third period
Blake Damerow found the back of the net with the help of Kyle McConell and
Trevor Murray at 0:51and gave the Panthers a 9-0 lead. BGSU would then disrupt the DU shutout as Lance Sims beat the Davenport goalie at 8:55. Davenport would bounce back as
Chris McRae scored from Bodziak to send DU to a 10-1 victory.
