GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The two most well-known schools in the state of Michigan, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, proved to be too much for the Panthers to handle over the weekend. Davenport would put up a good fight against the Wolverines, but time was not on Davenport's side as our third period comeback would be cut short.

HOW IT HAPPENED-The Spartans took the lead early and never looked back as they would score the opening six goals of the game.
-The Panthers would never give up as they scored two goals in the last period.
Megan Martin and
Laken Kunz would provide the offense for DU.
Lexie Boydston would tally the assist on Martin's goal.
-Martin and Kunz each had one goal
-Boydston led DU with one assist.
-Davenport would spend 13 minutes in the penalty box compared to the Spartans eight minutes.
-Both
Karley Ferguson and
Dawn Salo goal tended tonight. They would have their hands full as they saw 45 shots come their way.

HOW IT HAPPENED-The Panthers got down early and couldn't recover before the end of the game. The Wolverines would score two goals early in the first period, and held that lead throughout the whole game.
-Davenport found a spark in the third period by
Molly Byrum as she would score an even strength goal, assisted by
Adrienne Porcalla.
-This was a common them for the Panthers over the weekend, they got down early and then had surges late in the game that came up short.
-Ferguson spent all 60 minutes in goal. She would save 31 of 34 shots sent her way.
