Bolin Powers Panthers to 7-5 win over Point Park

The junior outfielder went 3-for-5 with a double (4), homer (4) and three RBI

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Davenport baseball team completed a three-game sweep against Point Park on Monday as they pounded 14 hits against a pair of Point Park pitchers. DU won the contest 7-5 putting them at 7-3 overall this season. The No. 6 Panthers got another big game from junior Travis Bolin. He went 3-for-5 with a double (4), homer (4), two runs scored and three RBI in the three-spot of the order. Bolin homered in the top of the first with Dominic Albanese aboard after a walk. He later drove home another run with a double in the five-run, fifth inning for Davenport.

Davenport starter Bryan Saucedo improved to 2-1 on the year allowing just one run in the second inning. He tossed five innings and allowed four hits, four walks and punched out eight batters. The Pioneers made things interesting with four runs in the bottom of the seventh off reliever Brady Kais. Jake Horew drove home a pair with a double and Daniel Sanchez homered in the next at-bat to cut the deficit to two runs.

DU's bullpen once again closed the door as Alex Schuiling pitched a clean eighth inning and Jonathan Cheshire set the Pioneers down in order for his third save of the season in the ninth inning. Nolan Krivijanski was saddled with the loss giving up all seven runs in four innings. Gustavo Barboza pitched well in relief tossing five innings of shutout ball with a walk and strikeout. Brian Sobieski collected two hits in five at-bats including his second double of the season. Jeremy Vasquez batted 2-for-5 with a run and his third stolen base of the season.
