ADRIAN, Mich. – The Davenport men's golf team could not hold a 36-hole lead at the 2016 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships at Lenawee Country Club finishing second. The Panthers held a mere two-stroke lead over Northwestern Ohio heading into the final round on Tuesday. UNOH put together the best round of the day (295) while Davenport shot 304 to lose by seven strokes to the Racers.
Jorge Benitez finished just one stroke off medalist honors in second place with a 216 (+3). He shot one-under par through 36 holes and ended up with a 75 (+4) in the final round.
Michael Cooper placed 13th with a total of 226 but fell 10 spots after 36 holes with an 80 on Tuesday.
Mitchell Wandell placed in a tie for 15th at 228 (+15) shooting his best round of the tournament (75) in the final round.
Mitchell Garrison shot 74 for the second straight round and finished in a tie for 18th.
