GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers hosted the University of Michigan for two games over the weekend and split with the Wolverines 1-1. Davenport fell in the first game and fought in the second game for a 2-1 victory. An early goal in the first period of Saturday's game gave DU a lead that they held for the whole game. After playing 14 games over October and November Davenport is 3-11 overall and looking to string together victories when play starts back up in December.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Wolverines scored the initial goal of the game 6:34 into the game. Davenport responded only 10 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1.
Marc Rotondo scored the goal,
Connor Seymour and
Tyler Jaenicke with the assists. The University of Michigan scored two more goals in the period and held a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.
-Rotondo scored the first goal of the second period to cut the Wolverines lead down to two goals,
Evan Carroll and
Jessee Game on the assist. Davenport would be shut out for the remainder of the game after Rotondo scored his second goal. The Wolverines tacked on three more unanswered goals to win 6-2.
-Rotondo scored both DU goals.
-Four players had an assist on the night, Seymour, Jaenicke, Carroll, and Game.

Devin Rosema played the entire game in net and had 41 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Hunter Ellens got the Panthers off on the right note in the first period by scoring a goal just seven seconds into the game, assisted by Seymour. Davenport was stellar on defense, shutting out the Wolverines for all 20 minutes of the period.
-The Panthers added to their lead with a goal by
Kyle McConnell in the seventh minute of play, assisted by Jaenicke. Davenport again shut out the Wolverines and held a 2-0 lead heading into the final period of play.
-The Wolverines got the game to within one goal towards the end of the game, however Davenport held on to win the game.
-Ellens and McConnell each scored one goal.
-Seymour and Jaenicke both had an assist.
-Rosema played all 60 minutes in the net.
UP NEXT
Davenport is done playing for the month of November and pick back up early December. The Panthers host Aurora University on December 1 and 2 for a mini-series.
