GRANDVILLE, Mich. - Davenport fell 8-1 against future NCAA D2 opponent Grand Valley State on Sunday. The Panthers were able to snag one point during the doubles competition, but were swept in the singles competition.
The dynamic duo of
Sam Rogerson and
Juan-Philip van Antwerpen defeted Jack Heiniger and Zach Philips 8-6 during the first doubles match of the day.
Matthew Boyle and
Matthew McClurg had a good battle against their opponents in an 8-5 loss.
Rogerson put up the greatest fight during the singles competition as he fell to Philips of GVSU by a score of 6-4 and 6-3. All of the singles matches were completed in two sets.
The Panthers will take a month off and will be in action again on March 18 at Saint Francis (Ill.) in Joliet, Ill. This will be the second NAIA team they face in 2017.
