Wolfram’s Shutout Helps DU Gain Split at #15 Keiser

DU came back after a 10-2 loss to win 3-0 behind the lefty hurler

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Davenport baseball team earned a split against #15 Keiser on Saturday after falling 10-2 in game one then rebounding for a 3-0 win in game two. Grant Wolfram tossed a complete-game shutout in seven innings for the Panthers who stand at 13-7 overall with one game at Keiser tomorrow left on their spring trip. Kyle Keatts was strong on the mound in game one for Keiser going six innings and allowing one run with eight strikeouts to get the win (5-1). Andrew Click (3-2) lasted just 3.2 innings and yielded seven hits and six earned runs. Brady VanSloten relieved Click going 2.1 innings and allowing two earned runs with no walks and two strikeouts.

Wolfram gave up five hits and no extra base hits in his 117-pitch effort (76 strikes). He is now 5-1 on the bump this season with a 3.03 ERA. Daniel Garmendia (2-2) took the loss for Keiser going five innings and giving up two earned runs and three walks. Wolfram finished with nine strikeouts and four walks. The Panthers jumped out with a run in the top of the first as Heredia had a RBI single through the left side of the infield. DU added a run in the fifth as Brian Sobieski scored on a double play groundout. Matt Hoge then had a fielder's choice RBI in the sixth.
