Davenport falls on the road to Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Panthers were scheduled to play two games over the weekend, but a weather setback held Davenport to only one game. Davenport played MSU closely for the opening 30 minutes of play, the remaining 30 minutes belonged to the Spartans. The two teams were tied 1-1 10 minutes into the second period, and then the Spartans scored five goals in the remaining 30 minutes of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Davenport got down early in the game, giving up the one goal to the Spartans during the opening 10 minutes of play. The Panthers couldn't find an answer during the period and went into the second period down a goal.
-Marc Rotondo got the Panthers off on the right note in the second period by scoring an even strength unassisted goal. Michigan State scored two consecutive goals in the period and held a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
-The Spartans would another two goals early in the third period to bring the lead to 5-1. The Panthers responded with a goal of their own from Hunter Ellens, assisted by Chris McRae and Marc Rotondo. Michigan State added a late goal to increase their lead to 6-2.
-Ellens and Rotondo scored the goals for DU.
-McRae and Rotondo each had an assist.
-Drake Deering played 44 minutes in goal, while Devin Rosema played 15 minutes.
 
UP NEXT
Davenport will face Grand Valley State next Saturday, which will be their last regular season game of 2018. Saturday's game will be played at 7:00 pm in Allendale, Michigan.
