MIDLAND, Mich. – Following their loss to Ferris State in the semifinals, the Panthers competed against Northwood to determine third and fourth place. Davenport fell to the Timberwolves 5-3 this morning and finish fourth in the GLIAC Tournament.
Matthew McClurg came to play as he won in his doubles match with
Jonathan Bulmer, then went into singles and won in two sets.

Doubles Competition
Davenport held a 2-1 advantage following the completion of doubles. The Panthers won 8-5 in first doubles and 8-3 in second doubles. The combo of
Marc Lerch and
Juan-Louis van Antwerpen were responsible for the win in first doubles, and Bulmer/McClurg were credited with the win in second doubles.
Max Hartman and
Parker Keas fell 8-2 in third doubles.
Singles Competition
McClurg was the lone Panther to win in singles. He won in third singles 6-3 and 6-4. Lerch, van Antwerpen, Hartman, and Keas all lost in two sets. Bulmer's match in fourth singles went unfinished.
Season in Review
Davenport finished their first season of competing in NCAA Division II and the GLIAC with an overall record of 14-10. The Panthers went 5-3 in conference play and took the 5
th seed at the GLIAC Tournament. Davenport won their opening three matches to start GLIAC play. In singles, Bulmer, Lerch, and McClurg tied for the most wins in dual matches. The three each won 15 times in singles. The duo of Lerch and van Antwerpen proved to be the most dominant throughout the season. The two finished with a record of 17-7 in dual matches, all in first doubles.

The Panthers 2017-18 season has officially come to an end. The next time Davenport will be in action is most likely the ITA Regionals in September.
