ALMA, Mich. - The Davenport wrestling team traveled to Alma College for their first dual of the season and came away with a 25-20 victory over the Scots. The Panthers have now evened the all-time series with three wins each.
Alma scored six points in the 125 pound match as Austin Wieczorek earned a win by fall at 6:23 over
Trever Skinner. Davenport built a 13-6 lead after claiming wins in the next three matches. Robert Altland secured a win at 133 pounds by fall in 2:46 over Noah Lopez.
Asher Meekhof won a major decision 8-0 at 141 pounds over Carter Hankins.
Jordan Ringler took a 10-4 decision at 149 pounds over Trent Lashuay.
Alma got five points due to an 18-2 tech fall at 4:43 in the 157 pound match as Matt Tomsett beat DU's
Quintin Lopez. The Panthers trailing 15-13 at the midway point put together three straight wins to seal the win.
Cole Menck at 165 pounds won 5-2 over Jayce Kuehnlein.
Sam Greco took a 6-2 win at 174 pounds over Erik Arnegard. The clinching match at 184 pounds pitted DU's
Caleb Norris against Alma's Grayson Richter. Norris ended it in fantastic fashion with a win by fall at 4:12.
Austin Fox for the Scots had the biggest win in just 56 seconds at 197 pounds over
Jacob Holmes. The heavyweights ended the dual as Jacob Ransom beat
River Fox in a narrow 4-3 outcome at 285 pounds.
