Each year the Panthers have been in the GLIAC they have improved, this year their eyes are set on the conference championship. Davenport owned a 5-6 GLIAC record last season and made the GLIAC Tournament during only their second year in the conference. The team is ready to rumble their way to a tournament run this season. The Panthers return four players that earned spots on the All-GLIAC team's last season.
Taylor Ries earned a spot on the All-GLIAC First Team, while
Ryann Deuel,
Brenna Knoll, and
Amber Park made the All-GLIAC Second Team.
All 12 starters from the Panthers tournament game last season are back for the 2020 season. The Panthers have a combined 12 seniors/juniors combing back this season. Ries (88),
Aaliyah Miller (70), Deuel (61), Knoll (50), and
Reilly Noble(43) led the team in scoring, all of who will be back in a DU uniform this season. In addition to the heavy-hitting returning players, Davenport adds some freshman phenoms to the mix, including
Anna Glynn. The freshman midfielder won the state championship four years in a row while playing for Rockford High School.
Davenport opens the season with five straight road contests before playing on their home turf. The home-opener will be on March 13 against a non-conference opponent The University of Findlay. GLIAC play will begin at Upper Iowa on Friday, March 20. The Panthers will play 10 straight GLIAC contests to finish off the 2020 regular season.
