Davenport enters year No. 4 as a member of the GLIAC in 2021 after the 2020 season was cut short after just five games (4-1 record) due the Coronavirus pandemic. Fast forward to 2021 and the Panthers return five of their top six offensive threats, including the top four scorers, as well as the only goalkeeper that appeared in all five of the team's matches,
Tylor Baker. Those five offensive weapons include
Ryann Deuel,
Aaliyah Miller,
Anna Glynn,
Reilly Noble, and
Brenna Knoll.
Davenport is led by eighth-year head coach,
Rob Harris, who was on pace to have his Panthers raise their win total for the second-consecutive season. Harris and his program saw plenty of success as a member of the WHAC at the NAIA level and are starting to get their footing at the Division II ranks with three wins in 2018 followed by eight in 2019. They'll look to build on that success this coming spring.
Schedule wise, Davenport is currently scheduled to play 13 games including three non-conference affairs prior to a 10-game GLIAC slate. The Panthers will open that 2021 schedule on March 7 at Tiffin, play their first home game on March 17 against Lawrence Tech and begin the league schedule on March 26 at Ashland.
Davenport was picked to finish third in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released on Wednesday. The Panthers received 17 points in the poll while Grand Valley State was picked to finish first, receiving five of the six first-place votes.
