Miller Earns Second GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

GLIAC Release

GLIAC - For the second time this season, Davenport women lacrosse's junior attacker, Aaliyah Miller, has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. This marks the fifth weekly honor for the Panthers this season and 10th overall since joining the GLIAC prior to the 2018 season, which includes an even split of five on defense and five on offense.

The honor comes after Miller led the Panthers to a pair of dominant wins over Northern Michigan (18-4 and 21-5) with a combined 11 goals, five assists, 15 shots, 13 of which were on goal, six ground balls, and three caused turnovers. With her play, the Kalamazoo native led Davenport to the seventh 10-win season in school history and first since 2017.

"Aaliyah is a kid that most likely had no idea she had the incredible stats that she did this weekend," said head coach, Rob Harris. "She doesn't care about the stats, she just cares that her team had success, that's what makes Aaliyah, Aaliyah, and we love that about her."

Next up on the schedule for Miller and her teammates is a home showdown with crosstown rival and eighth-ranked Grand Valley State (10-2, 7-0 GLIAC) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. If Davenport wins that regular season finale by more than three goals, it will be the top seed and host a GLIAC Tournament semifinal matchup with fourth-seeded Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, May 7. If Davenport wins by two goals, there will be a coin toss to decide hosting duties. Lastly, if Davenport wins by just one goal or loses the game, it will be the two seed and face third-seeded Northern Michigan on May 7. The finals will then be played on Sunday, May 9.
