Davenport Sweeps Saturday Slate; Kreiger Makes History

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Team wise, Davenport University women's volleyball did just what it needed to on Saturday at day two of Walsh's Cavalier Invitational. The Panthers beat both Notre Dame College (3-2) and the host Cavaliers (3-0) to make it three victories in a row and move two wins above the .500 mark at 5-3. Individually, Hayley Kreiger had a day as she joined the program's 1,000 kill club (eighth member) and set the DU record for kills in a three-set match with 20.

- Kreiger became the program's eighth member of the 1,000 kill club with a personal best 26 kills.
- The senior outside hitter made it back-to-back efforts with a double-double thanks to her 13 digs.
- Davenport made it three matches in a row having three players with at least 10 kills.
- The Panthers improved to 4-1 in five-set matches under head coach, Brian Netzler.
- Webb hit at least .400 for the first time this season and ninth time in her career.
- Welke notched the first three service aces of her career to go with her first double-digit dig game at 16.
- Herr racked up a career high nine total blocks, three of which were solo, her most solo stuffs of the season.
- Not only did Hayes surpass 50 assists for the first time in her career, but the same can be said for the 40- and 30-assist mark.
- The junior setter also earned the second double-double of her career and first since her freshman season.
- Davenport came out guns blazing by hitting .345 (12-2-29) in the first set and was at its best in the fourth when it hit .474 (11-2-19).

Match Notes
- As a team, Davenport hit .286 (44-14-105) to make it three matches in a row hitting at least .222.
- Once again the Panther offense got better as the match progressed with individual set clips of .220, .243 and a blistering .444 in the third to slam the door shut.
- Kreiger made just one error on 31 swings for a .613 hitting percentage, which is good for sixth in program history.
- For the week, Kreiger hit .293 with 72 kills and only 19 errors on 181 total attacks.
- Hayes broke the 30-assist mark in back-to-back outings for the first time in her career.
- Walsh managed to hit just .038 (26-22-105), the lowest output for a DU non-conference opponent since Cedarville hit -.040 on Sept. 1, 2017, the program's first match of the Division II era.
- Kreiger was named MVP of the tournament and Webb was also named to the all-tournament team.
