ALBION, Mich. - The women's wrestling team competed over the weekend at the Albion Open. The women's team had three wrestlers hit the mats with
Kelsey Novogradac placing fifth at the 123-class.
Novogradac earned 14 team points at the 123-pound bracket and started by winning by fall at 1:39 over Dayana Hoyos of East Stroudsburg. She moved on to the semifinals due to an injury that was suffered by Maya Gomez of Aurora. Jayla Oberst of Albion defeated Kelsey in the semifinals by a 7-3 decision. Kelsey would wrestle two more matches and lost in the consolation semifinals to Gianna Amendola of East Stroudsburg by fall at 5:03. She rebounded to win in the fifth-place match with a fall in just 20 seconds against Carmela Cancelmo of East Stroudsburg.
Elizabeth Palmer and
Katelynn Lee also wrestled with neither able to win a match.
