NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The men's lacrosse team found themselves down 13-11 with under two minutes left on Tuesday at Walsh and were able to score twice to force overtime.
Dylan Day scored with 1:39 left and then with just two seconds left it was
Jordan Caskenette scoring with an assist from
James Johnston. The Panthers forced a turnover caused by
Andy Trapp in the final seconds and got the possession. Johnston was behind the net and passed it to Caskenette who carried it from right to left and fired from a distance in the middle of the field for the tying goal.
In overtime, Walsh won the all-important faceoff and Andrew Singer got the groundball. The Cavaliers called a timeout 13 seconds into overtime and whatever they drew up in the huddle worked because just 10 seconds later it was Preston Coffman firing a shot from about 10 yards away that bounced before it went into the net with Marcus Brown on the assist. For Walsh it was their first win of the season while Davenport is now 3-3. After six straight road games to start the season, DU will be home on Friday at 1 PM against Quincy in GLVC action. The Hawks are 4-1 but haven't played since March 2.
