ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport University softball team was at No. 24 Grand Valley State on Wednesday for a midweek doubleheader, but the Lakers swept the Panthers with scores of 8-0 in five innings and 10-4 in the nightcap. Next up, DU will host Saginaw Valley State for a pair on Saturday with game one set to go at 1 p.m. at The Farm.
Davenport falls to 16-20 overall and 8-10 in the GLIAC with 10 games to play in the regular season while Grand Valley State is now 30-5 on the season and 15-3 in league action.
After dropping game one, the Panthers opened game two with a 4-1 lead through three and a half frames. Those four runs came in when 
Rachel Griffin doubled in 
Gabby Palazzolo (first inning), Griffin scored after 
Ellie Muilenburg reached on an error (first) and 
Alexis Koza doubled in both 
Monica Meger and 
Addison Binney (second).
Emma Miller (9-10) was saddled with the loss in both games as Muilenburg and 
Taylor Simon also got time in the circle.
