Softball Lands Five on the CSC Academic All-District Team

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Five members of the Davenport University softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Ally Prasnjak and Kailyne Luna are making their second appearance on this list, while Alaina Schwanke, Chloe Parker, and Hannah Tahaney are being honored for the first time.

To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90% of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66% of the games. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Graduate students must have a minimum of 3.50 for both their graduate program GPA and their undergraduate GPA.

Parker, a sophomore from Niles, Mich./Brandywine, earned D2CCA All-Region and First Team All-GLIAC honors this season. She emerged as one of the team's best hitters batting .352 across 28 GLIAC games, while totaling 25 hits, five doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 18 RBIs. She also posted a .662 slugging percentage and a 1.052 OPS against conference opponents. Parker had a few signatures moments, including a walk-off homer against Wayne State and a two-homer performance in Davenport's victory over Grand Valley State. Behind the plate, Parker finished with a .964 fielding percentage including 115 putouts and 18 assists.

Luna, a grad student from Clovis, Calif./Buchanan, was a Second Team All-GLIAC pick at third base and led the team in batting average this season at .329. She played in 50 games and made 46 starts for the Panthers in her final collegiate season. Luna scored 23 runs and collected 46 hits, including 14 doubles, four triples, and three home runs. She drove in 25 runs and slugged .550 with a .396 on-base percentage.

Schwanke, a sophomore from Roscoe, Ill./Harlem, made an impact in the circle and at the plate. She batted .287 this season in 52 games and collected 45 hits which included seven doubles, one triple, and two home runs. Schwanke batted in 22 runs and scored nine times. She also logged 83 2/3 innings with five complete games and seven wins. Schwanke appeared in 25 games and struck out 41 batters.

Prasnjak, a senior from St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview, appeared in 51 games and made 45 starts this season. She finished with a .248 batting average and tied for second on the team with 23 runs scored. She registered 32 hits, including nine doubles, a triple, and three home runs and drove in 20 runs. She also went 8-for-8 in stolen bases and drew 22 walks to lead the team.

Tahaney, a sophomore from Watervliet, Mich./Michigan Lutheran, was named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC in the circle. She had a 3.87 ERA and won five games in the circle. Tahaney threw seven complete games in 128 1/3 innings and led the team with 99 strikeouts.
