Softball Sweeps Parkside, Runs Winning Streak to Six

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Davenport University softball team has won six games in a row for the first time since 2019. The Panthers reeled off their third-straight doubleheader sweep on Friday taking care of business at Parkside thanks to scores of 7-4 and 13-0 in five innings. DU will look to keep it rolling on Saturday with a double dip at Purdue Northwest scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. eastern time.

The Panthers' (22-20, 14-10 GLIAC) 13 runs in game two are their most against a GLIAC opponent since scoring 17 on March 27, 2019 at Ferris State. That 13-run outburst helped DU move above the .500 mark overall for the first time since April 3 (11-9) and the Panthers are two games above level overall for the third time this season (10-8, 11-9). On the other side, Parkside fell to 7-37 on the season and 3-19 in conference play.

Offensively, the Panthers went a combined 29-for-64 (.453 batting average) on Friday with a .478 on-base percentage and .719 slugging percentage. Of the 11 Panthers that recorded an at-bat, eight finished with a multi-hit day including Riley Hasseld (4-for-8), Rachel Griffin (4-for-7). Gabby Palazzolo (4-for-8), Monica Meger (3-for-7), Brooke Cowan (3-for-6), Ellie Muilenburg (3-for-3), Lindsay Goodman (3-for-7), and Alexis Koza (2-for-8).

In the circle in game one, Miller (12-10) gave up four earned runs on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts. In the nightcap, Muilenburg (10-10) pitched the shutout with just one hit surrendered, not a single free pass and eight punchouts, her 12th outing this season with seven or more.
