ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport University track and field program climbed to new heights during the outdoor season and it all culminated on Saturday (May 28) at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. Isaiah Schafer won the shot put (65' 3.25") with the eighth-best throw in DII history and pulled off the feat of winning the event at both the indoor and outdoor nationals. He set a personal best by almost three feet. Isaiah also was able to finish sixth (174' 11") in the discus throw on Friday, therefore becoming an All-American in both events. Isaiah earned 13 team points for the Panthers which placed them as a team in a three-way tie for 19th along with Lane and American International.

"My four years at Davenport have been one heck of a ride," said Schafer. "Coming into this week I knew the competition was going to be more intense and I felt more than prepared with the help of my teammates, coaches, and trainer. To be able to win another national championship in the shot put this close to home and have more teammates qualify makes it a bittersweet last ride."

Emma Schafer competed in the heptathlon for the final time in her illustrious career and earned All-American honors by placing eighth with 5,138 points to establish a new personal best. Noah Dooley finished 11th in the decathlon with a total of 6,881 points. Claude Ockert competed in the hammer throw but did not mark in his three attempts on Thursday.
