NEW ORLEANS, La. – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the season.

Isaiah Schafer, who hails from Pewamo, Michigan, was named Midwest Regional Field Athlete of the Year. He won the shot put and placed sixth in the discus at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. His winning mark in the shot put also set a PR of 19.89m (65-3¼) and was the eighth-best throw in the history of NCAA Division II. Schafer was named the GLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Meet and the GLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year after scoring 18 points at the GLIAC Championships thanks to a victory in the discus and a runner-up showing in the shot put.
