Preview: Panthers slated for last pair of home matches

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's soccer team is heading into their final two home matches of the regular season this weekend to continue GLIAC action.

A strong week against Ferris State (1-1) and Saginaw Valley State (4-0) snapped a four-match losing streak and gave the Panthers the momentum they needed ahead of the 2023 GLIAC Tournament that's less than two weeks away.

Olivia Bosworth and Bailey Gauthier were recognized for their efforts in the most recent matches with the pair sweeping the GLIAC Player of the Week honors for offense (Bosworth) and defense (Gauthier) in Week Eight.

Improving to 5-5-4 (2-5-4 GLIAC) for No. 6 in the conference standings, DU returns to home pitch advantage to host Purdue Northwest and Wisconsin-Parkside.

PNW Matchup
The Pride has had a less-than-ideal season thus far, tallying a 2-11-2 record (0-10-1 GLIAC) with the two wins coming in their two matches at the start of the season. The conference draw came against the Panthers (0-0), marking DU's all-time record at 6-1-1 against the opponent and snapping a four-match winning streak dating back to the 2021 season.

Meta Fischer leads the GLIAC in saves with 69 total, although Fischer sits at the bottom of the conference for goals allowed (26) for the highest goals-against-average of 1.97 per match. GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week (Week One) Kaci Pampreen leads the team offensively with four goals and 10 points tallied, with Emma Carter also being a key orchestrator with two goals, a team-high three assists, and is second in points with seven.

Parkside Matchup
Alexis Baker has started and played in 13 of the 14 matches for the Rangers this season, leading the team offensively for four goals, 15 shots-on-target, and eight points total. Baker was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week (Week Six) for the team's second conference honor as Izzy Guyer was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for Week Two.

Goalkeeper Mia Guyton is second in the conference in total saves (60), allowing 11 goals scored for fifth place in the leaderboards.

Ranked No. 7 in the GLIAC, the Rangers will look to level the all-time record against the Panthers that stands at 3-2-3 in favor of DU.
