MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Davenport swimming and diving programs made a long drive to Northern Michigan for their first meet of the 2023-24 season. They took on the Wildcats and also St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday in a tri-meet against the other GLIAC sponsored schools in the pool.
Gerard Labernia Oms was able to win the 1,650-yard free in his first competition as a Panther with a time of 17:01.54. Ella Wagner also touched the wall in first place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.13.
Eric Perczak won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:54.50.
Alicja Pinkowicz had a strong showing in the 200-yard butterfly finishing in second place with a time of 2:11.80.
David Szczygiel was second place in the 200-yard butterfly behind Perczak in a time of 1:55.24. Wagner finished second in the 200-yard back in a time of 2:09.04. Labernia Oms continued his solid swimming with a second-place finish in the 500-yard free at 4:50.34.
Julia Mizik placed third in the 100-yard free with a time of 55.43.
Marcel Setlak in his first DU competition finished third in the 200-yard back with a time of 1:55.64.
