GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Finishing 2-1 throughout three days of action, Davenport University Panthers men's DII hockey added their second and third wins against Indiana Tech and Arizona State to improve their record to 3-10.

The Panthers faced Indiana Tech in back-to-back matches between last Friday and Saturday, the first falling in favor of the Warriors following a controversial delay of game penalty was called by the official, creating a penalty shot with six seconds remaining in the third period. Up 3-2 at this point, DU could not block the conversion as the match was sent into overtime, 3-3.

Indiana Tech ultimately won the match in the overtime match following a score to end it 4-3. Cole Dixon, Gabe Olenzuk, and Brian Woak were the goal scorers for DU in the match, as Zach Schneider, Arian Starin, Nathan Hartline, Lukas Lyszyk, Dixon, and Niko Reimann all tallied an assist. Austin Bartell recorded 16 saves against 20 shots made by the Warriors, as DU headed to Fort Wayne the next day for a redemption match.

DU avoided any last-second momentum swingers this time around, ending the match with a commanding 5-1 victory to knot the season series at 1-1. Willy Healy was the man of the match with three goals scored, followed by Anthony Ott and Schneider with one apiece.

The Panthers finished the weekend in a thriller against the Sun Devils of Arizona State with the match going down to the wire. DU appeared to be in control of the match heading into the third period with a 3-1 lead, but two late goals by ASU created an overtime situation. With neither side able to close it out in the first overtime, the match was sent into a penalty shootout.

With five of the six total skaters missing their attempt, Arian Starin secured the victory for the Panthers by converting his shot and winning the match 4-3. Ott, Healy, and Brayden Bartlett were the three regular-time scorers for DU, as freshman Oliver McDonald recorded his second career victory with all 65 minutes played in the net and tallying 44 saves against 47 shots.

Central Michigan University is up next for the Panthers in a home match on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 8:30 p.m. at the Patterson Ice Center.
