UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams started their indoor season at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Open and several student-athletes were able to post new personal records.
Freshman
Solomon King burst onto the scene by setting a new school record and hit the NCAA qualifying mark in the 60 meters with a time of 6.74 in the finals to win the event. He ran a 6.83 in the prelims and improved his time in the finals.
Freshman
Damarcus Rouse Jr. had a runner-up finish in the 800 meters (1:57.39), hitting a DU all time top five mark in his first meet.Â
Jaden Herrick had a big personal record in the 60 meter hurdles (8.59) and finished sixth in the event.
Bryce Albrecht finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 6' 4". Albrecht also finished third in the pole vault at a height of 15' 1". Freshman
Ryan Delcour placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 14' 7.25".
Julia Tuuri had a huge PR in the 60 meters (7.88), which was also a DU top five performance.Â
Erin Boettcher ran two PR's on the day with a 2:27.37 in the 800 meters and 7.99 in the 60 meters.
Sidney Heugel had a runner-up finish in the pole vault with a height of 12' 0.75".
Annabelle Schafer finished fifth in the pentathlon with 3,128 points.
