TIFFIN, Ohio - The Davenport men's wrestlers ascended upon Tiffin University for the NCAA Super Region 3 meet on Saturday. Among the highlights included Manuel Leija finishing fourth at 133, Tyson Emmons finishing fifth at 141, and Crue Cooper coming in sixth place at 197.

Leija was able to earn 8.5 points at 133 and the Panthers as a team would finish eighth with 30 points. He dropped his first match 2-0 against Ryan Wehner of Lake Erie and had to fight in the consolation draw. He beat Lance Crawford of Tiffin 7-2 and then defeated Gavin Ritter of Findlay 3-2. He had a rematch against Wehner in the third place match and again it was close in a 1-0 loss.

Emmons earned 16 points for the Panthers and won his opening match by fall at 2:30 against Cade Cass of Findlay. The tables were turned in his next match losing by fall at 3:30 against Ethan Hardy of Glenville State. Emmons also showed heart by winning his next two matches. He won by fall at 5:33 against Enrique Sanchez of Bluefield State and in 59 seconds by fall against Cade Canning of Wheeling. In the consolation semifinal, he dropped a match by fall at 6:31 against Khyvon Grace of West Liberty. He faced Cass again in the fifth place match and won by fall at 4:00.

Cooper was able to accumulate 6.5 points with his sixth place finish at 197. He went into extra time in his opener against Marvelous Rutledge of Notre Dame College before losing 10-8 in sudden victory. Much like his teammates, he did not hang his head and was able to win his next two matches. He beat Chance Morgan of West Liberty 10-8 and took a major decision 12-0 over Devan Gauldin of Glenville State. Greg Dennard of Bluefield State got a win over Cooper 10-7 in the consolation semifinal and then in the fifth place match it was Rutledge again getting the upper hand by medical forfeit 3-2.
