Dorn and Baryo break school records at Lewis Invitational

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Davenport indoor track and field season continued on Friday as the teams traveled to the Windy City for the Lewis Invitational. Among many strong performances was the falling of three school records. Erin Dorn broke the school record in the 800 meters and the mile in this one. Dorn placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.65 and that time moves her up to 18th in Division II. She also set a new record in the mile with a time of 4:58.44 which was her first sub 5-minute mile in competition. In addition, Ella Baryo established a new school record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:17.46 and placed fourth in the event.

In other women's action, Sidney Heugel won the pole vault and hit a provisional mark at 12' 6.75". Aislyn Shannon placed ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.43. Mackenzie Brigham placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17' 4.25". Lisa Wangler had a pair of strong finishes going for second in the shot put (39' 10") and third in the weight throw (55' 0.25").

On the men's side, the pole vault saw the Panthers go 1-2 in the event. Nick Ruvalcaba improved on his provisional mark in the event with a clearance of 15' 7.75" which was a personal best. Bryce Albrecht in second place reached a height of 15' 1.75". Ethan Scholten wound up finishing eighth in the long jump with a distance of 21' 6.75". Noah Evers finished third in the shot put and hit a provisional mark at 54' 6.75".
