VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Davenport track and field teams were represented by three student-athletes at the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships over the last two days.
Noah Evers brought home First Team All-American honors by finishing eighth in the shot put and gaining one team point for the Panthers. Evers had a mark of 57' 7" which was just shy of his best throw of 58' 1.75" set back on Feb. 10 at the GVSU Big Meet. He competed on Saturday and had his best throw on his very first attempt out of six tries.
Noah Dooley took part in the grueling heptathlon and earned Second Team All-American honors by placing 11th with 4,932 points. He had his best event finish in the 60 meter dash finishing third with a time of 7.04. He did improve over 500 points from last year's performance in the heptathlon when he finished 15th at the national meet.
Erin Dorn also participated in the 800 meters and made her first trip to nationals. Dorn was not able to make the finals as she finished 16th in the prelims with a time of 2:13.08.
"We are extremely proud of how our student athletes competed over the last few days, every one of them finishing higher than their ranking. It is great to see all of their hard work pay off," said head coach
Scott Cook.
