| By:
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Davenport swimming and diving program had a very historic couple of days at the NCAA Championships hosted at the IU Natatorium, which is a mecca in the swimming world that has hosted Olympic trials and seen world records established. The still young program in Division II made strides and provided a lot of firsts. Emily Bolt and Lexi Mirandette became the first divers in program history to make it past the Pre-Qualification meet. Bolt also became the first female student-athlete to score points at nationals. Bolt and Mirandette both placed 15th with Bolt doing so in the one-meter and Mirandette in the three-meter. Both were recognized as Honorable Mention All-America.

Richard Polasek was able to finish sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:57.19) and was an All-American while also establishing a new school record. Owen Stender placed seventh in the same event to also receive All-American status. Polasek was also able to set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.89 and finished 14th to become Honorable Mention All-American in that event. Polasek and Stender became the first All-Americans on the men's side.

"I am very proud of this team and the season we had," said head coach Justin Vasquez. "This group has set the bar for future teams and I hope we can continue to build this program into one that can contend regularly on a national level."

The men's team finished 20th while the women's team was 37th. Rebecca Wallis competed in several events including the 100-yard freestyle in which she set a school record (51.74). Wallis placed 36th in the 100-yard freestyle, 39th in the 200-yard freestyle, and 32nd in the 500-yard freestyle.
