Select group of Panthers begin their quest to qualify for nationals at GVSU Last Chance Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - With the GLIAC Outdoor Championships in the rearview mirror, the Davenport track and field teams are now focused on either setting a new NCAA provisional mark or improving their status in an attempt to qualify for the 2023 NCAA Division II Nationals in Pueblo, Colo.

On the women's side there were just two competitors for Davenport. Sidney Heugel did not clear the opening height of 3.66 meters and still has some work to do currently in 24th on the national performance list with 3.88 meters at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships last week. Annabelle Schafer took third place in the javelin with her best throw of 113-3 coming on her sixth and final attempt. That result did not meet the minimum distance for the provisional mark.

On the men's side it was the pole vault for both Bryce Albrecht and Nick Ruvalcaba. Albrecht finished fifth with a height of 15-1.5 (4.61 meters) and Ruvalcaba could not clear the opening height of 4.46 meters in three chances.
