Simone Pacciolla and Jaden Bender reached the finals in the doubles B draw

Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's tennis team hosted the ITA Midwest Regional competition over the last three days (Sept. 28-30) at three different locations including the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex, Caledonia High School, and East Kentwood High School. The draws were arranged in A, B, and C for both singles and doubles.

Jan Stolin, Rudiger Dusselberg, Reuben Bakker, and Daniel Calver each participated in the A Singles bracket. Stolin won his first two matches on Saturday against Raul Velasco Garcia of LSSU (7-6, 7-6) and Sergio Lopez Guillen of Northwood (7-5, 6-4). Calver also picked up a win in his first match against Kian Balali of Walsh (6-2, 6-0). Stolin would play on Sunday morning against Alex Van Lumich of Purdue Northwest and fell 7-5, 6-4 in the round of 16. Dusselberg rebounded from a round of 64 loss to defeat Juan Suero of Maryville in the consolation bracket (6-4, 1-6, 10-4).

Jaden Bender, Carlos Henriquez, and Simone Pacciolla competed in the B Singles bracket. Pacciolla won his opening match against Justus Peters of Roosevelt (6-1, 6-2). He then defeated Jose Portillo of Tiffin (6-2, 6-3) in the round of 32. He fell in the round of 16 on Sunday morning to Adrian Catahan of Ferris State (6-2, 5-7, 10-5). Bender would go on to win his next two consolation matches against Jorge Roman of UIS (6-0, 2-0 ret.) and Ayush Sharma of Tiffin (6-2, 6-4). Henriquez also won his first two consolation matches against Grant Miller of Lewis (6-1, 6-2) and Ryan Papazov of Hillsdale (6-7, 6-1, 10-7). Both guys then lost in the consolation quarterfinals.

Vance Muenzer, Bennet Dozeman, Jose Brenes, and Reid Reimink all competed in the C Singles draw. Brenes won his opening match against Lucas Pieringer of UIS (6-0, 2-6, 10-4) before falling in the round of 32. Reimink drew a bye in the round of 64 before winning in the round of 32 over John Sabback of Tiffin (6-0, 6-1).

 Stolin and Calver teamed up in the A Doubles bracket and won their first two matches to reach the quarterfinals. They defeated Maxence Hamon and Lezan Koyuncu of LSSU (8-3) in the round of 32. They then beat Ugnius Bickauskis and Caden Lingenfelser of William Jewell (8-5) in the round of 16. Henriquez and Bakker were a combo in the B Doubles draw and lost their first match. They would win in the consolation bracket over Luke Vanniewenhuyse and Pedro Noguiera of Cedarville (8-3) before falling in the consolation quarterfinals. Pacciolla and Bender had the deepest run in the B Doubles as they won four times to advance to the final. They dropped a tough 8-6 decision against Driss Sedrati and Jordi Fraile Raton of LSSU. Dusselberg and Brenes formed a duo in the B Doubles and won their first two matches before they had to face their own teammates of Pacciolla and Bender in the quarterfinals. Pacciolla and Bender won that match 8-5.
