Panthers can't snap losing skid in series against Dutchmen

| By:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Battling against short-handed matchups due to injuries throughout this season, Davenport University men's D3 ice hockey dropped a pair of matchups against Hope College on Jan. 10-11 in a 16-1 loss on the road and a 12-0 loss at home against the Flying Dutchmen.

With 17 active players, the Panthers gave up 10 goals in the first period of the road contest, giving up three more in the ensuing 20 minutes as Hope all but sealed the victory with a 13-0 lead with one period left to play. The shutout by the Dutchmen was stopped short after Will Soldano tucked in a goal with under eight minutes left to play in the contest, Hope closing the period on a 3-1 run to secure the win.

Cameron Griep and Chris Stamos nearly split the minutes in goal. Griep made 36 saves against 46 shots faced in just over 35 minutes, while Stamos saw 24 minutes of action and made 12 saves on 14 shots faced.

DU has nearly two weeks off from action as it prepares to compete in the Miami University (OH) Showcase between Jan. 24 and 26. The Panthers will face the Redhawks, Notre Dame, and Xavier, as they look to tally their first victory of the season.
