Two-Meet Recap: Strong Home Win, Tough Road Test

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport wrapped up a two-meet stretch with a dominant win over Kentucky Wesleyan followed by a tough road test at Lake Erie. The Panthers went 1–1 across the pair of duals, showcasing several strong individual performances along the way.

DU opened the week in commanding fashion, overwhelming Kentucky Wesleyan by winning nine of ten contested bouts. Shawn McGuire got the Panthers going at 133 with a 10-2 major decision, and Lucas Nagle kept the momentum rolling with a 10-5 win at 141. Buddy Leonard delivered DU's first pin of the day at 149, sticking his opponent in the opening period.

The Panthers piled on bonus points throughout the middle of the lineup. Brody Orcutt dominated at 157 with a tech fall in 3:56, followed by Dustin Mallory's 8-2 decision at 165. At 174, Darrin Alward recorded DU's second fall of the dual, while Colin Campbell added a forfeit win at 184. Andrew Dupree capped off the scoring at 285 with a 9-4 decision as Davenport cruised to a 30-point victory. Jalheel Rollins also picked up a win by fall in extra action.

Davenport vs. Lake Erie Recap (11/30/2025)
DU closed the week on the road against a strong Lake Erie squad, earning three individual victories but falling 37-9. Adam Concepcion opened the dual with an 8-7 thriller at 125, giving Davenport an early lead. McGuire followed with his second win of the week-claiming a forfeit at 133 - before Josh Howey secured DU's final points with a 12–9 decision at 165.

Lake Erie managed to swing momentum with bonus-point performances, tallying tech falls at 141, 157, and 285 while adding a first-period pin at 197. Despite competitive efforts from Orcutt (157) and Alward (174), the Panthers couldn't slow the Storm's push through the upper weights.

Davenport returns to action at home on Friday, December 5, when the Panthers host Thomas More at 4 p.m.
