Men's Wrestling Land One of Michigan’s Best with Signing of JC Amrhein

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Davenport University men's wrestling program has added one of Michigan's most accomplished prep wrestlers with the signing of JC Amrhein, who recently moved to Manchester High School after beginning his career at Dundee. Amrhein will join the Panthers in Fall 2026 as one of the premier senior wrestlers in Michigan, bringing an elite résumé that spans state championships, national-level competition, and multi-sport success.

Amrhein is coming off a dominant junior season at Dundee that culminated in an MHSAA Division 3 state championship at 157 pounds. He posted a perfect run at the state finals, winning all four bouts by first-period pin, including a 1:17 pin in the championship match. The victory also marked his 100th career high school win, while contributing to a historic team showing that tied the state record for most individual champions in a single season.

A proven finisher, Amrhein recorded 37 pins during his junior campaign and went on to claim a junior freestyle state championship at 165 pounds. His postseason achievements build on an already strong track record—he finished third in Michigan as a sophomore at 138 pounds and entered high school ranked third in his class behind a four-time state champion. He has also been named to Michigan's 16U national team multiple times, representing the state in high-level competition.

Amrhein is the son of Jeremy and Sarah Amrhein and will look to extend his championship-level success to the collegiate stage at Davenport.
