GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport ACHA women's hockey team took care of a depleted Notre Dame team over the weekend at Patterson Ice Center. The Panthers (Division 1) had no trouble with Notre Dame (Division 2) as the Irish lost 14-3 on Saturday and 8-0 on Sunday.
Notre Dame skated with just six players compared to 11 for the Panthers on both days. The Sunday game was cut short after two periods as the Irish waved the white flag.
On Saturday night,
Charlee Tannahill scored a hat trick and added an assist. She scored once in the first period and twice in the second period, including a short-handed goal at 2:29. It was her first three goals of the season after missing time due to injury.
Kacie Stolarek led the team with four goals, including a hat trick in the second period alone. She had a short-handed goal at 3:36 shortly after the Tannahill short-handed tally. Stolarek increased her season total to 15 goals, which is currently tied for seventh in a season at Davenport.
Ainsley Skinner and
Gabby Basha led the team with three assists. Skinner and Basha also each scored one goal on the night.
Abi Courtney registered two goals and an assist.
Abby Hildebrand,
Sydriha Retzlaff, and
Kaylen Clark also scored a goal for DU.
Avery Hall stopped 27-of-30 shots on the night in net for Davenport.
The Sunday rematch lasted just 40 minutes, but Davenport won 8-0. Retzlaff scored twice including a power play goal in the second period at 13:42.
Reilly Lind in net stopped all six shots that she faced. Hildebrand ended with a goal and two assists. Tannahill finished with a goal and two helpers.
Mika Kulynych had a goal and assist.
