Box Score LOCKPORT, Ill. - The men's tennis team improved to 11-3 this season with a 6-1 win at Lewis University on Saturday night. The team is back in the win column after dropping their last two matches to end the spring break trip. The Panthers also evened the all-time series at 1-1 after falling 5-2 last season.
The Panthers earned the doubles point by taking two of the three matchups.
Jaden Bender and
Daniel Calver blanked Santiago Carabajal and Andrew Davidson, 6-0, at two doubles.
Carlos Henriquez and
Jose Brenes at three doubles won 6-2 against Sarvar Azamtaov and Grant Miller.
Calver had a great match at two singles against Roberto Leal and pulled out the win in three sets by scores of 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
Reuben Bakker at three singles won his match against Azamatov by scores of 6-3, 6-4. Bender at four singles won 6-4, 6-2 against Carabajal. Henriquez at five singles picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win against Miller.
Rudiger Dusselberg at six singles had zero problems against Davidson in a 6-0, 6-0 decision.
Davenport will open GLIAC play on Saturday, Mar. 15 at Purdue Northwest. DU has a 3-2 record in the series against the Pride.
