Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. - In a gritty opening-round showdown at the 2025 GLIAC Men's Tennis Championship, Davenport University fell 4–2 to Purdue Northwest (PNW), despite several impressive individual performances.
Davenport came out with strong energy, particularly in singles play. Rudiger Dusselberg earned one of DU's key points, defeating Francisco Lanuesse at five singles by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Simone Pacciolla at two singles earned the other point for Davenport. He defeated Samuel Dickson by scores of 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. While the doubles point ultimately went to PNW, Henriquez and Calver were able to carve out a win at three doubles against Dani Chicano and Daniel Sroka (6-2). The one doubles swung the way of the Pride as Dickson and Alex Van Lumich won in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4), against Pacciolla and Reuben Bakker.
Notably, Bakker was scratched from his match, slightly altering the Panthers' lineup.
Despite the loss, the Panthers turned in a fine season with an overall record of 15-9.
