PIERSON, Mich. - The Davenport University men's golf team competed at the Midwest/Central Regional Preview at the Katke Golf Course. The squad finished fifth out of 19 teams, shooting 885 (+33), marking their second consecutive top-five finish to begin the fall season. In the second round, the Panthers shot 285 (+1) as a team, which was the second best score of all teams.
Leading the Panthers was Justin Grimard, finishing sixth overall with a three-round score of 885 (+4) with a low-round of 69 (-2) in the second. It marked the third overall top-10 finish of his career. The junior tallied eight birdies through three rounds of action.
Chen-Shiuan Wu came in at 12th overall, shooting 220 (+7) through two days. His best round was in the second, finishing with a score of 68 (-3) in 18 holes. On the seventh hole of the second round, Wu recorded an eagle, while totaling five birdies in two days.
Finishing 34th overall was Cayden Kwan, recording three birdies in the opening round, shooting a 74 (+3) in the first round. The junior ended with a three-round score of 225 (+12).
Rounding things out for DU was Hudson Turcotte and Pedro Russi. Turcotte ended 41st overall (227), while Russi was 57th overall (230).Â
